"My name is Alicia Harrison. I am from Sacramento California. This is my story. In March of 2007, I was diagnosed with stage-three breast cancer. Because the cancer had spread to the lymph nodes, surgery was not recommended; and my primary physician suggested I consult with an oncologist. That doctor’s office was filled with patients who looked as if they had no hope – some appeared to be the walking dead – I wanted to run. I knew I could not handle the despair that permeated that clinic.

Knowing I must make a decision for life, I went to a clinic in Mexico where I was placed on a strict vegetarian diet, a juicing program, and Laetrile treatments. At the same time I put myself on an intensive schedule of Bible healing Scriptures, continually claiming God’s victory over the cancer on a moment-by-moment basis. I faithfully maintained this regime for over a year, vigorously strengthening and fortifying my body. Nevertheless, the tumor continued to grow.

I earnestly prayed that God would direct me in my next step. My prayers were very specific: I prayed for doctors who believed in God and who understood the absolute necessity of good nutrition. Additionally, I prayed for doctors who would be progressive and open minded to the best of all conventional and alternative therapies. Even as I prayed, God was answering.

When I spoke of my desire to a relative, he said, "I know of such a place,"and suggested the Oasis of Hope Center in Tijuana, Mexico. My husband and I made arrangements to visit the Center. From the moment we walked in we sensed a wonderful atmosphere of peace. With its bright, cheerful landscaping, encouraging murals, and uplifting Bible verses on the walls... the place seemed more like an oasis of hope than a "cancer" hospital.

It got better: an individualized program was designed for me that included organic food and nutritional supplements, alongside hormone blockers, innovative treatments and selective chemotherapy. They believed in attacking the cancer in as many different ways as possible; and the entire staff treated me as a person, with love and kindness, not as a statistic.

After beginning the therapy, I began seeing quantifiable results. Side effects from the treatment were minimal. The tumor began shrinking. Understandably, there were some days when my energy was low and I didn’t feel well, but thankfully, the terrible nausea and bone pain so prevalent among so many cancer patients was minimal and bearable.

After the third treatment the CAT scan could no longer detect any tumors or swollen lymph nodes, and they pronounced me "in remission"! I thank God every day for the Oasis of Hope and for the healing miracles that happen every day in this atmosphere of love, support and kindness.

I went to the hospital one week a month for six months. Although some of the treatments were uncomfortable, I actually looked forward to being at the Oasis of Hope because of the excellent food, the cheerful staff, the words of encouragement, the chapel services with worship, the nearby ocean and the atmosphere of hope with the belief that God is the Great Physician.

I completed 6 treatments and then began a lifestyle of continued prevention. I continue to eat organic food and drink fresh vegetable juices. I also take daily immune boosting supplements. Every six months I look forward to returning to the Oasis for a checkup and to visit my new family and friends. "
