Dining at Oasis
So that is what you will find at Oasis – delicious foods prepared from whole grains, pasta, beans, soy, fruits, vegetables, and natural juices, with modest amounts of added oils and nuts. Small portions of poultry or fish are also served occasionally, for patients who choose to adopt a "Mediterranean" style diet rather than a strictly plant-based (vegan) approach. What you won't find are fatty meats and the typical "junk foods" made with refined carbohydrates, oils and synthetic additives. The food at Oasis of Hope is lightly salted, in recognition of the adverse impact of salty diets on vascular health. If this is a new style of eating for you, you may be surprised to learn how delicious it can be! Our hope is that you will take this style of eating home with you, so that you can protect not only your own health, but that of your family as well. While at Oasis, you can attend lectures which will help you to understand how whole-food plant-based diets can work to prevent and control cancer, and to optimize your overall health. These lectures will also give you further insight into the specific food choices that are most effective for health promotion. |
