Survival Statistics Stage IV Cancer Home Care Treatment Follow-Up Program Patient Testimonials Signal transduction refers to the way in which cellular proteins undergo small and usually reversible alterations in their structure that induce alterations in cell behavior. The problem with cancer cells is that specific signal transduction pathways are augmented or over-expressed in relation to their malignant behavior such as, cellular multiplication, tissue invasion, metastasis to distant organs, and resistance to chemotherapy or radiation. Correspondingly, the signal transduction pathways related to apoptosis are reduced, or under-expressed. At Oasis of Hope, our goal is to use nutrients, phytochemicals, and currently available drugs to regulate the signal transduction pathways, suppress the ones that are over-expressed in cancer cells or boost pathways that are under-expressed. The intent is for cancer cells to grow slower or make them easier to destroy. For more information please visit Signal Transduction Therapy. |
