Treating the Whole Person
Focusing on Chemotherapy & Radiation Therapy
At Oasis of Hope, integrative oncology means uniting standard-of-care treatments—chemotherapy and radiation—with personalized supportive care so your plan is effective, tolerable, and coherent. Our medical oncologists and radiation partners coordinate closely with our nutrition, metabolic, and recovery teams to help you prepare for therapy, stay strong during treatment, and recover well afterward.
How Integrative Oncology Works at Oasis
We start with a full review of your diagnosis, staging, goals, and prior therapies. If recommended by our medical team, we can design a plan that aligns conventional treatment with supportive measures such as our metabolic and immunotherapy program. These adjunctive modalities are scheduled around your chemo or radiation days to support tolerance and recovery.
Chemotherapy at Oasis of Hope
Chemotherapy uses medications that target rapidly dividing cells. It may be given IV or orally, in cycles with planned rest periods. Goals can be curative, disease-controlling, or symptom-relieving, depending on your case.
Our approach
- Personalized regimen & timing: We match drug choice and dosing to tumor biology, overall health, and goals.
- Prehabilitation: Before you start, we optimize nutrition, electrolytes, and minerals (e.g., magnesium, potassium, zinc, selenium) and align hydration and activity to prepare you for cycle 1.
- Treatment-day support: Antiemetics, infusion comfort measures, and clear home instructions. For select regimens, we may incorporate cryotherapy (ice chips) to help reduce mouth soreness when appropriate.
- Between cycles: We use nutrition plans, hydration/electrolytes, infrared/sauna (as tolerated), and gentle detox routines to help you rebound and stay on schedule.
Integration with adjunctive therapies
- Oxygenation & Ozone/EBOO: Scheduled on non-chemo days to support microcirculation and oxygen delivery.
- Full-Body Hyperthermia: Placed in blocks away from infusion days to support perfusion; sequencing is individualized and coordinated with your oncologist.
- High-Dose IV Vitamin C & Vitamin K protocols: Considered adjunctively on non-chemo days to support redox balance; timing is carefully coordinated to avoid conflicts with your regimen.
- IPT (Insulin Potentiated Therapy): Considered in select cases within clinical oversight as an adjunct; always coordinated with your oncology team.
Radiation Therapy at Oasis of Hope
Radiation uses precisely targeted energy to damage cancer cell DNA. It can be given externally (most common) or internally (brachytherapy), and may be curative, adjuvant, or palliative.
Our approach
- Collaborative planning: We coordinate simulation, imaging, and daily treatment schedules with our radiation partners so your nutrition, hydration, and recovery days line up with the course.
- Skin & tissue care: Proactive topical care, protein-forward nutrition, and hydration to support skin integrity and mucosal health.
- Energy & appetite support: Meal timing and texture changes for head/neck, chest, or abdominal fields; electrolytes and IV minerals as needed for intensive weeks.
Integration with adjunctive therapies
- Hyperthermia (systemic): May be scheduled in separate blocks to support perfusion; timing is individualized.
- Oxygenation & Infrared: Used on non-radiation days to maintain circulation and recovery.
- High-Dose IV Vitamin C / Ozone: Considered adjunctively and not on radiation days; sequencing is planned to avoid interference and focus on comfort and recovery.
