Insulin Potentiated Therapy (IPT)

Targeted Cellular Uptake Therapy

IPT utilizes insulin to increase cell membrane permeability, allowing therapeutic compounds to enter cells more efficiently and support integrative cancer treatment.

What Is Insulin Potentiated Therapy (IPT)?

At Oasis of Hope, Insulin Potentiation Therapy (IPT) is part of our integrative strategy to focus treatment on cancer cells while aiming to reduce the overall toxic burden on the body. The idea is simple but powerful: many tumors use sugar far more aggressively than normal tissue—often many times more, and in some contexts up to 10 times. IPT leverages this metabolic trait.

How it Works

An IPT session begins with a small, carefully controlled dose of insulin that briefly lowers blood sugar. In that short window, cancer cells—hungry for glucose—ramp up uptake and pull nutrients in at a higher rate. At the moment of peak uptake, we introduce low-dose chemotherapy. Because cancer cells are in a heightened absorption state, more of the medicine is taken up by tumor cells than by healthy cells. The clinical goal is to deliver less total drug while maintaining therapeutic intent—concentrating impact where it’s needed and easing strain on the rest of the body.

How We Use it at Oasis of Hope

IPT is performed under the care of a doctor and a registered nurse in a monitored setting. Each visit follows a calm, stepwise sequence: preparation → the brief insulin window → delivery of low-dose agents → a re-feeding phase to restore normal glucose. Sessions are scheduled in cycles and coordinated with your other therapies so everything works in a smooth weekly rhythm. We also plan meal timing, hydration, and electrolytes around IPT days to keep you comfortable.

Benefits

  • More targeted action by timing therapy to a tumor’s heightened sugar use
  • Lower chemotherapy doses (when appropriate for your case), aiming for fewer side effects
  • Improved tolerance, especially valuable for patients with weakened immune systems

IPT

IPT is integrated within a broader framework of evidence-informed, holistic care at Oasis of Hope:

  • ImPACT Immunotherapy: We coordinate IPT around your ImPACT schedule, so the two approaches complement each other—aligning with immune-cell therapy milestones and recovery days.
  • Ozone / Oxygenation Therapies: Ozone-inclusive protocols can improve circulation and oxygen delivery, supporting overall metabolic goals and the oxygen-dependent chemistry relevant to other modalities.
  • Full-Body Hyperthermia & Infrared: These therapies enhance perfusion and are often placed on adjacent days to aid tissue oxygen use and recovery.
  • High-Dose IV Vitamin C: When appropriate, we sequence Vitamin C on oxygenation-supported days to fit its redox and oxygen-dependent mechanisms.
  • Detox & Nutrition: We emphasize gentle detox routines and nutritional therapy (adequate protein, key micronutrients) to help your body process byproducts and keep energy steady between treatment days.
